Student of the Month – Craig Malin

Craig Malin has been chosen as January’s student of the month for his planting plan as part of unit 6 on the Diploma in Garden Design course.

About Craig’s course

The Diploma in Garden Design is fully accredited by AIM Awards.

The Diploma in Garden Design Skills is one of the more specialised courses here at NDA. This diploma allows students a platform to build on their love for garden design whilst increasing their academic and practical skills and knowledge. The Diploma in Garden Design Skills begins with an overview of garden types, explaining how garden design has evolved over centuries into its current form. External factors such as social and economic considerations that have shaped this development are looked at in detail in order to establish a solid foundation from which to progress through the course.

The Diploma in Garden Design provides students with a base to progress on to the BA (Hons) Design for Outdoor Living which is validated by Staffordshire University.

What Craig’s tutor says…

“We are delighted to announce that Craig Malin has been selected as Student of the Month for January. His Planting Plan, submitted as part of Unit 6 on the Diploma in Garden Design course, is an excellent combination of clarity of design, detailed plant knowledge and a user-centred concept that perfectly fulfils the design brief. The layout is deceptively simple, allowing the viewer, or client, to understand exactly how the garden will look on completion. Plant habit, leaf shape, colour and seasonal interest have all been addressed within this design ensuring year-round interest. All of us at NDA congratulate Craig and look forward to seeing how his design skills develop during the remainder of the course. Very well done indeed.”
