· You’re over 19 years old. · You haven’t taken more than 4 Advanced Learner Loans previously. · You’ve been a resident in the UK, Channel Islands, or Isle of Man for 3+ years. · You haven’t previously received a loan for the same qualification.
Advanced learner loans cover tuition costs and are administered by Student Finance England.
No, you can receive a loan regardless of your employment status.
You must be over 19 years old and fulfil the residency criteria.
You must be a resident in the UK, Channel Islands, or Isle of Man for 3+ years.
You can apply for up to 4 loans. You can get more than one loan at the same time.
This depends on:
The type of course.
Your course fees.
The maximum loan available for your course.
The minimum loan you can get is £300. You do not have to borrow the full cost of your course – you can pay for some of it yourself.
No, it won’t impact your credit rating.
Loan repayments are based on what you earn, not how much you’ve borrowed.
You only start repaying your loan when you have completed your course and have started earning above £25,000 per annum. If you don't earn above £25,000 per year, you won't need to repay the loan.
Your annual repayment amount will be 9% of any income you receive over the repayment threshold.
If you took the loan out after 1st August 2023 the income payment threshold is £25,000 per year.
The loan is repaid via PAYE and does not go on your credit file.

Yes, you can still apply for the Advanced Learner Loan.
