Day one at the UCAS London Exhibition

14th November 2013

The first day at the UCAS London Exhibition has got off to a great start. Our two expert tutors; Vicky Arbuthnot and Sarah Lockett have been cheerily promoting the benefits of studying with the National Design Academy to an enthusiastic student audience.

Many of the students attending the UCAS London event are between the ages of 16 and 18 years old and are perhaps at an age where they are questioning what to do after college. With the drastic rise in university fees over the past couple of years students are now looking for alternative routes into education. This is where the National Design Academy can offer a truly invaluable study option. We are proud to be able to offer young college leavers the possibility to gain a fully accredited BA (Hons) Degree course whilst still working full time in a chosen career. Over recent years we have seen an increase in the number of 18 year olds who gain an entry level or work experience position in a design company allowing them to gain valuable on the job training and experience whilst simultaneously studying for a degree in interior design via online distance learning. This not only allows the student to stay at home to study but they are also able to work full time so that they may benefit from a steady income.

Below we hear from our two professional design tutors about how they think the first day is going at the UCAS London exhibition.

Vicky Arbuthnot

“Promoting the National Design Academy to college leavers is always a fantastic experience. It is wonderful to see the new generation of students so undeniably passionate about design. Both Sarah and I have been inundated with course information requests and are delighted to see so many students show a true interest in a career in design. Today we have seen high levels of interest for our BA (Hons) Interior Design degree which is the next natural academic step for those who have already successfully completed an A Level in Art and/or Design.”

Sarah Lockett

“The day kicked off with Vicky and I putting the final touches to our National Design Academy stand. As the doors opened our stand was flooded with requests about NDA degree courses from a wonderfully enthusiastic range of design students. However, we have also seen great interest from other qualified designers contemplating an MA Interior Design Degree. The general feedback that we have been getting is that the National Design Academy seems to offer the younger student market great scope for progression in terms of both academia and future careers in the world of design.”

It’s a busy day at the UCAS London event and the interest expressed by the student population has been unrivalled. Vicky and Sarah will be at the stand today until 3:30pm as well as all day tomorrow. Pop by and say hello they’ll be on stand 6.
