Meet Davide Da Rold

Davide Da Rold turned a busy life into an opportunity for growth, proving that passion and perseverance can thrive alongside a full-time job and family responsibilities. By enrolling in the National Design Academy’s Interior Design BA (Top-Up), he embraced the flexibility of distance learning to elevate his career and pursue his passion for design.

His journey, from part-time student to graduate, and now progressing into management and a master’s degree is a testament to what’s possible with the right support and unwavering determination.

In this spotlight, Davide shares what inspired him to explore the world of interiors, how his NDA education sharpened his ability to anticipate design trends, and why modernist ideals continue to influence his approach. He also offers practical advice for graduates looking to carve their own paths in the design world.

What Course Did You Study at the National Design Academy and When Did You Complete Your Course?

At the NDA I studied the Interior Design BA (Top-Up)

What Inspired You to Pursue Interior Design?

I was looking to take my FdA degree in product and furniture design to next level with the aim of developing a holistic understanding of the world of interiors.

Can You Share Your Journey from Graduation to Where You are Now?

The course enabled me to take my studies further enrolling on a master degree. It also allowed me to progress my career moving from manufacturing to management.

How Did Your Education in Interior Design Prepare You for the Challenges in the Industry?

The research behind the delivery of all the modules forced me to look into the future. The understanding of what people are going to want next month, next year or in 5 years’ time is fundamental to gain an edge on your competitors. You need to develop the capabilities to predict what the trends are going to be and I believe that this is what this course delivered to me.

Who or What are Your Biggest Influences in Interior Design?

The modernist era as a whole. I strongly believe that the credo that helped to shape the beginning of the 19th century is the base for good design and innovation. Fight tradition, eliminate waste, embrace change and technology.

After Graduation, How do you Continue to Learn and Grow as an Interior Designer? Are there any Resources (books, websites, events) that You could Recommend to Fellow Graduates?

I am a real fan of Domus! An architectural and design-based journal. (I do have a subscription for the paper version)

What Advice Would You Give to Recent Graduates About Navigating the Early Stages of Their Careers, Especially in Terms of Finding Opportunities and Growing Professionally?

Be true to yourself and learn the art of communication! Communication is key to deliver thoughts and ideas.

What is UK Government Funding?

UK students pay approximately 50% of the full course fee – the balance is funded by the UK Government’s Adult education budget (AEB).

The National Design Academy is the only design school to be able to offer this funding as our Diplomas are all fully accredited by AIM Qualifications.
