ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN HIGHER EDUCATION (INTERIOR DESIGN)
If you wish to study the NDA Online Master’s (MA) Degree in Interior Design, but your Bachelor’s Degree is in a different design related subject, the NDA Pre-Master’s course will prepare you to study at Post-Graduate level. If you have many years’ experience of working within the Interior Design Industry at a Senior or Management level without a Degree this Pre-Master’s course will enable you to progress to the NDA Master’s (MA) Degree in Interior Design.
The Advanced Diploma in Higher Education (Interior Design) is designed as a conversion course and will equip you with the knowledge and skills base required to study at postgraduate level.

One of the following is required to study this degree:
- Bachelor’s (BA Hons) Degree in a design related subject
- Applications are also welcome from those aged 21+ with extensive professional interior design experience at a Senior or Management level and a portfolio of professional interior design projects including: sketches, plans, estimates, visuals etc.

Approximately 6 months – flexible (maximum of 12 months).
You will not have to take an exam! Your tutor will assess your assignments as you submit them and your portfolio is moderated by a De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) External Examiner.
Your certificate will be issued by the University and is identical to those of students who study on-campus, it does not refer to Online Study.

– If you have many years’ experience in the Interior Design Sector at a Senior or Management level but without a degree, and your career would benefit from a Master’s Degree.
The course is composed of an intensive programme of 60 University credits at Bachelor Degree Level, which covers the entire interior design process. This module introduces students to the core elements and principles that are covered in the Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, without the need to complete a 4 year course.
The Pre-Master’s Course consists of one double-credit Module at Bachelor’s level and covers:
- Space planning
- Producing plans and elevations
- Developing an Interior Design Brief
- Understanding the components of a Professional Interior Design Pack
If you already hold a degree level qualification in a design related subject you will be well versed in the skills and techniques required for this level of study, with research methods, and presentation skills already finely tuned. If you are working in the Interior Design Industry at a senior level you will have the practical experience of the techniques required for this course. The focus of the Pre-Master’s course is to bring students up to an appropriate level in the core processes and practices required for running an interior design project.
You can study the Pre-Master’s Course for Interior Design part-time, flexibly online, to fit in with your work and home life. You will study using our specially designed Virtual Learning Studio (VLS) via the internet. Here you can access your course material with links to interior design resources and contact your personal tutor as often as you wish. Timely and informative feedback will be given by your Personal Tutor on your projects and you will not have to take an examination. You can make new friends and keep in touch with other students and alumni professionals and share ideas and examples of other students work, through our lively student forum.
The majority of NDA students usually complete their Online Pre-Master’s course in Interior Design in just 6 months or even less, but this is flexible according to your circumstances.

The principal aim of this Pre-Master’s Course is to create a pathway onto the Master’s Degree in Interior Design for students with a previous university or professional background.
Because the National Design Academy is a Non-Profit Organisation we are able to offer the LOWEST tuition fees and generous Progression Scholarships to all continuing NDA students.
Students who pay their own fees receive a discount for payment in full, or they can make monthly payments to spread the cost.
What will I study?
This course is designed for Graduates who do not hold a first degree in Interior Design but are keen to study the subject at Master’s Level. Successful completion of this 60 Credit Advanced Diploma will allow access to the NDA Master’s Degree (MA) in Interior Design. The course addresses key skills required to study on the Master’s Degree course including: space planning, producing plans and elevations, developing an interior design brief and understanding the components of a professional interior design pack.
