Professor Christine King CBE, DL. Vice Chancellor: Staffordshire University

Monday, 5th October:

Students attending the Introductory Workshop at the National Design Academy (NDA) were surprised and delighted when their afternoon session was visited by Professor Christine King CBE, DL, Vice Chancellor of NDA's partner educational institution, Staffordshire University,

Following conversations and lunch with Academy Director Pauline Riley and NDA Directors, Professor King was taken on a tour of the Academy buildings and River Crescent, the multi award winning apartment complex which houses the NDA's commercial interior design practice NDA Private Clients, who designed the show apartments within the complex. Professor King then returned to the Academy studios where she spoke to each student in turn about their individual expectations and goals.

Professor King has a particular interest in the NDA's innovative approach to Interior Design education by distance learning, in particular the delivery via a bespoke Virtual Learning Studio (VLS) of Foundation Degree in Interior Design and BA (Hons) Interior Design courses. The NDA's successful and long-standing Diploma in Professional Interior Design will also be available to study via the VLS in the near future.

Our Virtual Learning Studio is just one example of the innovative teaching practices provided by the National Design Academy and we are delighted to work alongside a Vice Chancellor and a University who share and encourage our vision for flexible, part-time design education in the 21st century.
